SKN Fire & Rescue urges public to discontinue the practice of overloading their surge protectors

The St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services is urging the general public to discontinue the practice of overloading their surge protectors.

 

 

 

A representative, FSSO Mr. Timothy Martin, spoke on a practice observed in the federation where persons utilize all sockets on the surge protector which may lead to an overload and even fires, especially if using large appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, etc.

Persons are encouraged to refrain from using all power sockets on their surge protectors. By following this practice, it may lead to decreasing potential overloads and fire hazards.
