Celebrated annually on October 5th 2021, Word Teacher’s day celebrates all teachers around the globe. According to en.unesco.org the day specificallycommemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.
Federal Minister of Education, the Hon. Jonel Powell, in address to mark the occasion he highlighted the resilience displayed by the federation’s teachers in ensuring that our youths access to education is not adversely affected.
Minister Powell was quoted as saying “the country celebrates our teachers for the multifaceted role that they have taken on in the fight against the pandemic.”
