SKN shaken by 5.1 magnitude earthquake

At approximately 12:14 am on Friday, October 9th 2020, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake shook St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN). 

 

The earthquake, which occurred North East of St. Kitts and Nevis, was located at 17.98°N and 62.44°W and at a depth of 10km, according to the UWI Seismological Center.  

 

There were other reported earthquakes felt last week in the region including a 5.2 magnitude quake in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, October 4th, a 5.2 magnitude quake in Grenada on Monday, October 5th and a 5.3 magnitude earthquake in the USVI on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020.

 

Neighbouring islands that felt the 5.1 magnitude earthquake on the morning of October 9th include: Antigua and Barbuda, St. Maarten, Anguilla and Guadeloupe.
