Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas, has called for a new election, following Election Petitions filed by the Party on Friday June 26th.

An Election Petition refers to the procedure for challenging the result of a Parliamentary Election.

The Petitions are therefore, challenging the results of the June 5th General Elections, in six of the eight seats in St. Kitts: Constituencies # Two, Three, Four, Five, Seven and Eight. At the General Elections, the Party secured 2 of the 11 seats.

The Team Unity alliance made up of three (3) political parties here in St. Kitts & Nevis namely: the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) Party, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) and the People’s Labour Party (PLP), won 9 seats (CCM-3, PLP-2, PAM-4).

While announcing the aforementioned claims, Dr. Douglas said the Government is “illegitimate”.
