SKN’s population to be completed “by the end of the 1st quarter”

Officials from the Department of Statistics have given updates to the VONNEWSLINE, about St. Kitts and Nevis’ population census.

A census is the procedure of systematically calculating, acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population. St. Kitts and Nevis’ last census was conducted in 2011.

Director of Statistics-St. Kitts, Carlton Phipps, said enumerators (persons responsible for collating information for the census) experienced challenges, such as: the Covid-19 pandemic, the two elections held in 2022 and individual’s failure to cooperate with the Departments’ enumerators.

While it is ongoing, Mr. Phipps told the VONNEWSLINE that the census will be completed “by the end of the 1st quarter” and “by April 2024” the public will be abreast as to the number of persons residing in SKN.
