Against the backdrop of the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, St. Kitts and Nevis joined its Caribbean Community (CARICOM) partners in a symbolic signing, marking the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter, reaffirming faith in the multilateral system at a moment of global uncertainty.

The Federation was represented by H.E, Dr. Mutryce Williams, and Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, who stood alongside regional diplomats in a collective gesture underscoring the continued relevance of the June 26th, 1945 framework for peace, sovereign equality, and international cooperation where 50 countries signed.

Prime Minister Terrance Drew described the Charter as a “living commitment” to dialogue and shared that its responsibility is particularly vital for Small Island Developing States navigating global instability.

Organized in coordination with CARICOM, the ceremony highlighted regional unity on pressing priorities including climate resilience, sustainable development, and global security.

Eighty years on, officials framed the Charter not as a relic of post-war diplomacy, but as an active blueprint that continues to bind 193 global nations to the pursuit of peace, dignity, and collective progress.
