St. Kitts and Nevis joins the world in observing International Credit Union Day

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, speaking in relation to International Credit Union Day. 

 

According to the World Council Credit Union, International Credit Union Day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement’s history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work and share member experiences.

 

The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the tremendous work that credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged.  

 

Currently, the credit unions in the federation are: the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, St. Kitts Cooperative Credit Union, Federal Cooperative Credit Union and the Police Cooperative Credit Union. 

 

Prime Minister Harris made these comments in recognition of the service of the local Credit Unions in the Federation to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis:

International Credit Union (ICU) Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948.
