St. Kitts and Nevis joins the world in solidarity on World Cancer Day

“Close the Care Gap.”

That is the theme for World Cancer Day celebrated annually on February 4th

World Cancer Day, according to worldcancerday.org is a global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

Each year, hundreds of activities and events take place around the world, gathering communities, organisations and individuals, to remind others that everyone has a role to play in reducing the global impact of cancer.

Locally, the Nevis Health Promotion Unit in the Ministry of Health is inviting the general public to show their support on World Cancer Day on Friday, February 4th and wear a colour of choice based on the Cancer Ribbon Colour chart.

The Cancer ribbon colour chart can be found on the Unit’s Facebook page displaying the various cancer diseases as well as their corresponding ribbon colours.

World Cancer Day was created in 2000 to raise worldwide awareness, improving education and catalyze personal, collective and government action in the fight against a wide variety of cancers.
