Sustainable Destination Council encourages alternative to Plastic Use

For the next two days (July 13th and July 14th), the St. Kitts Sustainable Destination Council is encouraging the public to “Decline Plastic Cutlery” and “Skip the Straw”.

These are the respective names given to the aforementioned dates as part of a larger ongoing movement “Plastic Free July”.

This week, the council is encouraging members to take their own initiative and follow the act of the day in honour of the month-long observance and as part of a collective effort to reduce single use plastic in the Federation.

Monday July 11th, was dubbed “Ditch the foam and bring your own Bowl” while Tuesday July 12th was dubbed “Bring your own Bottle or Cup”.

‘Plastic Free July’ according to plasticfreejuly.org is “a global movement that helps millions of people be a part of the solution to plastic pollution in order to have cleaner streets, oceans and beautiful communities.”
