UWI celebrating 75th anniversary

“Rooted, Ready, Rising” is the theme for the University of the West Indies (UWI’s) 75th Anniversary.

As part of its celebratory activities, the UWI Open Campus St. Kitts & Nevis, will hold an interfaith service on Tuesday March 28th, 5:30pm at the Wesley Methodist Church, Seaton Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts.

The university was founded in 1948 in Mona, Jamaica, as the University College of the West Indies, based on a recommendation by the Asquith Commission, which had been established five years prior to reviewing the state of higher education in the then-British colonies.

Since then, the university has provided service and leadership in its mission to advance sustainable development for the survival of the Caribbean economy and society. It remains an internationally recognized university.

The St. Kitts site is responsible for all of the UWI Open Campus activities in both St. Kitts & Nevis, including public service, outreach activities, research and continuing education programming.
