Four Days after a brutal shooting incident on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14th), which resulted in the death of a 51-year-old, the Federal Ministry of Education announced an extension on the period of “compassionate care” for the staff and students of the Irishtown Primary School, a press release says.

As a consequence, the school will now remain closed for the remainder of the week, during which time the Ministry will continue to reach out as necessary. However, the services of the Guidance Counselling Department will continue to be available. Initially, the closure of the school was from February 15th to the 17th.

Ms. Dahlia Hanley of Lime Kiln, St. Kitts is the Federation’s latest homicide victim. The incident occurred at the Irish Town Primary School, where she worked as a security guard.

This took SKN’s murder toll to 4 so far for 2023 (3 in St. Kitts, 1 on Nevis). Police said every lead is being followed, “to develop the investigation and pin point the motive and possible suspect(s) in this Homicide.” Minister of Government and Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher #2 (Central Basseterre), Marsha Henderson, expressed her sympathy:
