3rd Wӓrtsilӓ Generator commissioned at NEVLEC’s Power Station 

The Commissioning Ceremony of a new 3.8 Megawatt Wӓrtsilӓ Generator was held on Tuesday, March 15th, at the NEVLEC (Nevis Electricity Company Limited) Power Station, in Prospect, Nevis.

 

Present were Nevis’ Premier Mark Brantley, other Cabinet colleagues, representatives from NEVLEC and Wӓrtsilӓ.  

 

The addition to the unit is part of a process which began in 2000, to provide a more reliable supply of electricity to residents of Nevis.

Transition and Distribution Manager at NEVLEC, Mr. Ian Ward, explained to those present at the Ceremony, what this addition means to the people of Nevis:

 

 

Mr. Brantley, who is also the Minister of Public Utilities said the island is in a better position:

 

 

The cost of the whole project and its auxiliary systems is approximately $US 6.3 million.
