Police Force Condemns Assaults on Officers, Urges Public to Uphold Civic Duty
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has strongly condemned recent incidents in which civilians assaulted law enforcement officers and defied lawful orders during the execution of their duties.
Describing the behavior as “brazen” and “anti-patriotic,” the RSCNPF emphasized that such actions are criminal offences punishable under the Offences Against the Person Act and the Small Charges Act. The Force maintains a zero-tolerance approach to violence against law enforcement.
“These are not minor breaches of etiquette; they are criminal offences,” the statement read, adding that all applicable charges will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
The RSCNPF acknowledged the ongoing dedication of its officers, who work around the clock to safeguard the Federation. “It is unconscionable that anyone would treat with such disregard those who sacrifice their time, energy, skill, and youth to keep our communities safe.”
Citizens were also urged to evaluate the influence of peers who may encourage unlawful behavior. “No true friend would urge you to destroy your freedom, your future, and your liberty.”
The statement concluded: “We will not flinch, falter, or tolerate attacks on the men and women sworn to protect this Federation. Law enforcement carries a constitutional duty. The public bears a civic responsibility. Let us all rise to meet our respective ends of this national bargain.”
