Expo 2025, set in Osaka, Japan, is a world exposition centered on the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” bringing together nations to explore innovation, culture, and sustainable solutions.
On August 20th, Saint Kitts and Nevis delivered a vibrant and unforgettable performance in honor of its National Day at the Expo, a chance to showcase the federation’s culture and heritage through visual media, music, dance, and rhythm.
Performers included Anelto Wilkin (Revealers Band), Casim Pemberton (Rucas H.E Empire), Omandey and MJ Byron (EBJ Harmonics), Royd Phipps (Spirit Drums), Chevaun Percival (First Federal Brotherhood Drummers), Joyelle Phillip representing Nevis, Karina Dore and Roberitine Webbe (Advanced Dance Agency), and Tronelle Chumney (Synergy Dance Movements). Many were members of the nation’s thriving Creative Economy sector.
Foreign Minister, the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas declared the National Day open highlighting, 40 years of diplomatic ties with Japan. He highlighted the nation’s rich cultural heritage, festivals, and economy as well as invited guests to explore the SKN pavilion and the innovations of the St. Kitts Nevis Robotics Association.
Dr. Douglas emphasized the vision to become the world’s first sustainable island state, and highlighted the “country’s dedication to promoting peace, prosperity, and resilience on the global stage.
Meantime – In Osaka, Japan on August 20, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, joined Iwao Horii, a Member of Japan’s House of Councillors from the Liberal Democratic Party, in a traditional tea ceremony.
It was a moment of cultural exchange where Dr. Douglas in preparing his own tea demonstrated the mutual respect between Japan and St. Kitts and Nevis.
