17-year-old charged for multiple traffic-related offences on Nevis

A juvenile, aged seventeen (17), on Nevis was formally charged by police in connection with several traffic-related offences.

 

A press release from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) says the offences include: Taking a Vehicle Without the Consent of the Owner, Driving Without Insurance, and Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License.

 

The charges were laid on Tuesday October 14th, at the New Castle Police Station, in the presence of the juvenile’s parent.

 

Following the formal charge, the juvenile was released into the custody of the parent on a Release of Child Detention Form, pending an appearance at the Social Services Department on Wednesday Oct. 15th. A “Notice to Appear at Initial Inquiry” Form was also issued.

 

In St. Kitts & Nevis, to start learning to drive: the person must be at least 17 years old to apply for a permit. However, the minimum age for a license is 18.
