2nd quake in six days occurs near Basseterre, St. Kitts

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7, occurred near Basseterre, St. Kitts on Thursday Mar. 19th: the second quake in the space of six days.

 

Based on information from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC), it took place at 6:46pm.

 

Its location: Latitude 19.16 degrees North and Longitude 62.41 degrees West, at depth of 10 km.

 

Thursday’s quake occurred 209 km, North of Basseterre, 236 km NNW of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda and 263 km N of Brades, Montserrat.

 

There were no immediate felt reports. Thursday’s quake also comes following an earthquake, which occurred near Basseterre on Friday Mar. 13th. Prior to this, a 3.5 earthquake took place north of St. Kitts on Mar. 2nd. Most recently, a 6.0 earthquake struck eastern Cuba on Tuesday.
