A major filmmaking industry ‘Nollywood’ is set to partner with St. Kitts and Nevis.
At the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit in Abuja, Nigeria, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has formalized a cultural partnership with acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Steve Gukas, Founder of Natives Filmworks.
Signed by Federal Minister, the Hon. Samal Duggins, through the Department of Creative Economy, the agreement marks a strategic effort to expand the Federation’s creative industries while strengthening cultural and economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean. The deal follows a series of recent engagements in Nigeria that helped establish the foundation for collaboration.
A key feature of the partnership is the production of a major film project in Saint Kitts and Nevis, scheduled for June 2026. Officials say the initiative will also establish a wider framework for training, mentorship, and collaboration across the global African creative community.
The programme further includes structured development opportunities for emerging filmmakers across the region, with access to production experience and global distribution networks. The presence of a diverse delegation of creatives and cultural stakeholders underscored the government’s intention to ensure tangible, long-term benefits for the wider creative economy.
