Keshaun Akers Convicted and Sentenced For Robbery

One man has been sentenced to six (6) years’ imprisonment following his conviction for the offence of robbery. The sentence was imposed by His Lordship Justice Patrick Thompson Jr. in the High Court on June 22nd.

 

The matter arose from an incident that occurred on March 29th 2023. Following investigations by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Mr. Keshaun Akers of Tabernacle was arrested and charged with the offences of Robbery and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

 

Mr. Akers was arraigned before the High Court on February 13th, where he entered a guilty plea to the charge of robbery. The charge of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm will remain on file.

 

His Lordship ordered that Mr. Akers serve six (6) years at His Majesty’s Prison, with time on remand (2 years) to be deducted. Additionally, the Court directed that he enroll in and pursue CXC Mathematics and English studies for the May/June 2027 examination period as part of his rehabilitation.

 

Also, the Court ordered that failure to comply with this educational requirement will result in an additional six (6) months’ imprisonment, to run concurrently with the six-year custodial sentence.
