Civil servants and pensioners to benefit from salary increase and contributory pension plan

Civil servants and pensioners will benefit from an (8) percent salary increase, commencing on January 12th 2024. It comes following the Federal Government’s implementation of its new salary increase for government employees and a Contributory Pension Plan, which came into effect on January 1st 2024.

 

 

 

In addition, effective January 12th 2024, the Contributory Pension Plan, with a three (3) percent pension contribution will see GAE’s (Government Auxiliary Employees) and other monthly paid workers employed by the Government on or after May 18th 2012, becoming eligible to receive a pension.

 

 

 

A series of information sessions will commence on January 15th 2024, to “educate employees about the benefits of the salary increase and the new pension plan,” said Head of the Civil Service, Thelma Richard.

 

 

 

Prime Minister – Dr. Terrance Drew has expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of these changes. Meanwhile, as part of measures to assist persons, effective Jan. 1st 2024, Corporate Income tax was officially set at 25%. Civil Servants on Nevis in particular, according to Premier the Hon. Mark Brantley, “will receive their final tranche of the 5% salary increase.”
