Covid-19 Relief Fund: Director of the SS Board gives update on payments

Director of the Social Security Board, Mr. Antonio Maynard, has provided an update on the Social Security’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. He was speaking during Tuesday night’s “Leadership Matters” program.

The Relief Fund was created to assist all working persons whose income has been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with the Labour Department, the Social Security has facilitated the payment of up to EC$ 1,000 monthly for three months in the first instance (April, May and June). 

Beneficiaries of the fund include: Full time and part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons, whose income is impacted by the virus. With respect to payments, Mr. Maynard mentioned the amount of monies disbursed for April, May and June.
