Foreign Affairs Minister meets with Guatemalan Counterpart ahead of 7th CELAC Summit

On Monday January 23rd, Foreign Affairs, Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas along with his counterpart from Guatamala, Mario Bucaro participated in a bilateral meeting ahead of the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC.

 

 

 

This summit was held on Tuesday, January 24th, at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

 

 

CELAC or the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, is a multilateral group of 33 countries from across the Western Hemisphere that excludes Canada and the United States.

 

 

 

Topics in the meeting include: preparations for the 1X ACS Summit which will be held in Guatemala in May; Deepening relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and Guatemala through reciprocal waiver agreements; Training for Government Officials, including Foreign Service Officers and Farmers; Cultural Exchanges; Increasing Trade and Investment Opportunities, including Tourism (Temporary movement of People) and other matters.

 

 

 

Dr. Douglas was accompanied to the CELAC Summit by Senior Assistant Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Samuel Berridge.
