On Wednesday October 30th, the employees of the Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) had the opportunity to do a health screening.
The screening was done in collaboration with the Health Promotion Unit Nevis and carried out by Education and Prevention Officer, Dr. Hadassah Willet-Sargeant and her capable team.
Blood Sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI), Urine and Waist Circumference were some of the health indicators that the employees had the privilege of checking.
Dr. Willet-Sargeant told the VON Newsline about the work done and she shared “Early prevention is the key… it helps save lives… we catch things in its very early stages…. we can actually revert the effects of unhealthy practices… We always commend NEVLEC for partnering with us… they are very interested with the health of their staff”.
She continued “A healthy workforce is a productive workforce…if they are unhealthy, they will be unable to carry out tasks at an optimum level”.
In a final comment, she stated “We ask that any business if they are interested, they could also reach out to the Health Promotion Unit and we are more than happy to screen their staff.”
