Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley welcomed the visit of Acting Ombudsman of the federation to Nevis on Tuesday, April 11th.
Revered Bishop Cyprian Williams was initiated into the role by the Governor
General of St. Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency – Dame Marcella Liburd and
officially started operating on March 30 th , 2023. The role of an Ombudsman
includes investigating any administrative action of government to determine
if dishonest or inefficiency of an administration has been committed and
provide recommendations to improve practices and procedures.
During the visit, Bishop Williams laid out his plans and programmes for the
critical office of the Ombudsman for St. Kitts and Nevis.
According to a statement by Minister Brantley, the Ombudsman was given
the full support of the Nevis Island Administration and the office of the
Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament for future endeavors.
