Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher No. 5, Hon. Shawn Richards has announced that upon the completion of his current term as leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) later this year, he will not be seeking re- election for the leadership position.
The announcement was made on Thursday April 4th, 2024. Mr. Richards has held the leadership position since 2012, having been selected three times during the party’s caucus and convention. He won the St. Christopher #5 Constituency (which include areas such as Sandy Point & Fig Tree) for the first time in the 2010 General Elections. Mr. Richards also served as Deputy Prime Minister under the Team Unity-led administration from 2015-2022. While speaking with the VONNEWSLINE, he mentioned the reason for his resignation:
