SKN Government expresses solidarity to SVG, in the wake of the La Soufrière predicament

 That was National Disaster Coordinator at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Abdias Samuel.

 

His remark came as St. Vincent and the Grenadines continue to monitor the La Soufrière volcano.  

 

Residents of the country were warned on Wednesday to be on the alert for the volcano, which was Dormant for decades. 

 

The Vincentian Government raised the alert level to orange, indicating that it could erupt with less than 24 hours’ Notice, according to the

Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

 

The country’s Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said that residents in some communities may receive evacuation orders on short notice, according to uk.reuters.com. 

 

Steam, gas and a volcanic dome, formed by lava that reaches the Earth’s surface were seen over La Soufriere, CDEMA said.
