Superior Goat Flock Now available for Purchase in SKN

St. Kitts and Nevis now has over 100 kids of a superior goat breed for purchase, a product of the Goat Breeding Programme.

 

In April of 2018, the Department of Agriculture in St. Kitts and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) entered into an agreement to introduce a Goat Breeding Programme, with an objective to improve the Federation’s local goat flock.

 

During the “Working for You”  program aired on February 24th 2021, Director of Agriculture in St. Kitts, Melvin James, spoke about the success of the program:

 

 

The name of this special type of goat breed is called the Boer, which is known for its meat and for putting on weight in a shorter period of time. Mr. James also spoke about the possibility of purchasing goats:
