St. Kitts and Nevis Becomes First Caribbean Nation with Fully Operational API and PNR Systems
St. Kitts and Nevis has become the first Caribbean nation to be recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as fully compliant and operational for both Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems.
This recognition, listed as “In Force” on IATA’s World Tracker, confirms the country’s eBorder system is actively receiving data from airlines. API transmission began in May 2025, with Sunrise Airways becoming the first Caribbean airline to submit PNR data in August 2025.
The eBorder system enhances both national security and traveler facilitation by enabling real-time, pre-arrival passenger screening, which helps reduce wait times and streamline border processing.
Chief Immigration Officer, Sheldon Jeffers stated “This reflects our commitment to providing border agencies with the tools needed to make informed, real-time decisions that enhance security and facilitation alike.”
This milestone follows the September 2 announcement that St. Kitts and Nevis was the first CARICOM nation to receive PNR data from international carriers. The government remains focused on building a safe, innovative, and welcoming nation for both citizens and visitors.
