The Lenten Season officially ended here in SKN on Saturday Mar. 30th.

Lent 2024 is the six-week period leading up to Easter. It started on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 14th) and either ends on Holy Thursday (March 28th) in some countries or Holy Saturday (March 30th), depending on the denomination.

During Lent, prayer is focused on our need for God’s forgiveness. It’s also about repenting (turning away from our sins) and receiving God’s mercy and love.

In relation to Easter, how is the date determined? Easter is a moveable feast as opposed to a fixed date each year. Easter is celebrated on the Sunday following the first full moon of spring (March 21st or later).

Another important day was Palm Sunday, the last Sunday during Lent, took place on March 24th and it signifies Jesus’s triumphant return to Jerusalem after spending 40 days and nights in the desert. Lent lasts for 40 days because Christ suffered in the desert for 40 days.
