A new edifice to house the Treasury Department here on Nevis, will officially open (tomorrow) Thursday Jan. 30th, at 3:30pm.
The new building will also house the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and the Information Technology Department of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA).
Some years ago, an early morning fire gutted the previous structure that housed the abovementioned Departments as well as Philatelic Bureau, thus the NIA had to take a decision to rebuild the facility.
Demolition work on the project site, commenced in Aug. 2017 but the reconstruction project began in Oct. 2017 and was earmarked for completion between 18 and 24 months.

Meanwhile,
The NIA embarked on an upgrade on Lower Happy Hill Drive, to uplift the area in which the new building is situated.
