A woman attempting to travel to St. Kitts aboard a Caribbean Airlines flight was arrested for possession of cocaine and a quantity of cash.
According to Trinidad & Tobago Police Service (TTPS), “reports indicate that around 10:55 am on Monday Apr. 6th, a Woman Estate Constable was operating a scanner at a security checkpoint at the Piarco International Airport, when a female Trinidadian national from Carenage entered the machine.”
In a press release dated Apr. 8th, it states that the officer “observed anomalies” in the scan and conducted a physical search of the passenger in the search room and allegedly discovered a pink balloon strapped around her waist, containing 17 pellets containing a total of 281.5 grammes of cocaine.
Moreover, TTPS said further checks of the woman’s carry-on bag led to the discovery of US$5,189 and TT$30. The woman was arrested in connection with the finds and investigations are ongoing.
